A medical device start up needed a simple portable method for downloading data, to a PDA, from their oxygen concentrator for offline analysis.

The software had to use less than 20K of memory, and run in a PIC microprocessor.

PacInfo's Solution:

PacInfo’s task was to research available communication options and implement the communications package after customer approval.

PacInfo selected a wireless Infrared communications package using Tiny TP and OBEX protocol. PacInfo ported the ANSI C code to the PIC Processor.

Using the OBEX protocol, data could be transferred to any IrDA compliant wireless device such as a PDA. Additionally, data could easily be transferred from the PDA to a PC for offline analysis.

PacInfo was able to implement software offline with Microchip prototype hardware while production hardware was still being modified.

Using Microchip’s standard toolset and a IrDa compliant protocol stack, PacInfo was able to implement an effective solution on time & under budget.
